Dewey Markham Jr., wine scholar and author, was born and raised in New York City. He is a graduate of New York University, with a Bachelor’s degree in English and a Master’s degree in Cinema. After earning a degree at the Culinary Institute of America, he travelled to France where he worked as Director of L’Ecole de Cuisine La Varenne. Dewey is the author of Wine Basics (John Wiley & Sons) and the James Beard-award winning book 1855: A History of the Bordeaux Classification. He has lived and worked in Bordeaux since 1993.
